Urgent appointments

- phone us on 0161 983 5800, Monday to Friday from 8am to 6.00pm
- visit the surgery and speak with a receptionist, Monday to Friday from 8am to 6.30pm
When you get in touch, we’ll ask what you need help with.
We will use the information you give us to choose the most suitable doctor, nurse or health professional to help you.
Please give as much information as possible to help us arrange a suitable appointment for you. You may not see your usual doctor and no other matter should be discussed with the doctor during this consultation.
If you are unable to attend the appointment time offered, you may be asked to ring NHS 111 or attend a walk-in clinic instead.
Acutely ill children
We understand how worrying it can be when a child is poorly, particularly when they are acutely unwell. If you ring up the surgery about a child under 16 years of age who is acutely ill (this means too ill to attend school or nursery), your request will be reviewed by a GP and if applicable, we will arrange for a same day urgent appointment. The GP may do call you first to see if advice can be given over the phone or if the child needs to be seen in person.
If you are unable to attend the appointment time offered (for example, if the child is in school) you may be asked to Call 111 or attend a walk-in clinic instead.
In emergency situations, for example, where the child has breathing difficulties, is choking, has stopped breathing, has a rash that doesn’t disappear when pressed with a glass, or appears to need immediate medical attention, it may be more appropriate to call 999 or to take the child to A&E.
Out of practice hours, please phone the practice number and you will be connected to the Out-of-Hours service for help.

The Latest NHS data suggests that 15.4m GP appointments go to waste every year because patients who don’t turn up, do not give sufficient notice make the appointments available to other patients. Of the wasted appointments, just under half (7.2m) were scheduled with GPs themselves. This adds up to more than 1.2m GP hours wasted each year – the cost equivalent of over 600 GPs working full time for a year.

Patient transport
The (Non-Emergency) Patient Transport Service (PTS) in Greater Manchester is provided by North West Ambulance Service. This service is for patients who due to a medical condition cannot make their own way to booked NHS appointments.
The service is available to people who need to travel to and from a NHS hospital appointment or treatment centre, when they are discharged from hospital or if they need to be transferred between treatment centres.
The criteria rules that determine whether or not you are eligible for PTS have been set by the Department of Health and are based upon whether your medical condition prevents you from travelling by any other means.
All patient transport providers are now required to apply these rules. In the majority of cases, each time a booking is made a series of questions are used to check eligibility and to ensure the right transport and level of care is available to the patient.
To book transport, please call 0800 092 4020
- You will need the following information to hand:
- Date of Birth (DOB)
- Your NHS number (See appointment letter)
- Full address with postcode
- Your mobility needs – are you in a wheelchair for example?
Once your transport is booked, you will be given a booking journey reference number. Please keep this number in a safe place in case you need to contact them and make any changes or cancel your transport. Your hospital or treatment centre will usually book any transport needed for follow-up appointments please discuss this with them when you book your follow up appointment.
