Measles Outbreak
As expected we are seeing an increase in confirmed measles cases in Greater Manchester.
Data published on Thursday 15 February by the UK Health Security Agency shows 24 cases of measles have been reported in the North West between 1 October 2023 and 13 February 2024. This is an increase of 14 cases on data published last week. The majority of cases are in Greater Manchester.
We have been made aware (by patients) that a mass text has been sent by NHS England to all parents and guardians of children.
It states that your child MAY NOT be up to date with their MMR vaccine.
If you receive this text message please can you check your child’s RED BOOK or the NHS App before phoning us. That should contain details of all vaccine your child has had.
There is no need to call us if your child has had two doses of MMR vaccine as they will be protected.
If however they have not had two doses please do call us to arrange an appointment so we can administer the appropriate dose(s) in order to protect your child.
