7 Day Appointments

There are 7 day appointments with GPs, Practice Nurses & Healthcare Assistants available in Stockport on Saturdays 09:00-15:00 and Sundays 09:00-13:00. Just call us on our usual number to ask to make a booking.

Our Doctors and Nurses try hard to run to time - please help them by limiting your consultation to one problem and book another slot if you need to. Please bear in mind when there is a delay it can be because someone is very distressed and needs compassion.....

What to do if you have a flu like illness

If you're otherwise fit and healthy, there's usually no need to see a doctor if you have flu-like symptoms.

The best remedy is to rest at home, keep warm and drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration. You can take paracetamol or ibuprofen to lower a high temperature and relieve aches if necessary.

Stay off work or school until you're feeling better. For most people, this will take about a week.

Archwood Medical Practice rated "GOOD" by CQC across all key measures and population groups (July 2016)

65+ Men

A simple scan can tell you if you have an abdominal aortic aneurysm. Men aged 65+ are most at risk. Eligible patients will be invited to attend clinics from August 2016.

Men over the age of 65 who would like a scan can do so by ringing the AAA Screening Office on  0161 291 5716 and providing their NHS number.

Patient On-line Access to Medical Records

Patients can now apply to have access to their detailed (coded) medical records. For more information click here.

Since Archways and Dr Chanda came together in 2012 to form Archwood Medical Practice the complexity of running a surgery has continued to increase.

We continually review how we work to ensure that we can continue to offer our patients a high level of service and care.

We believe a key way to ensure that we are in a position to meets patients’ needs in the longer term is by growing the practice. For this reason we are currently in discussions with our neighbours, BL Medical Practice, about a merger.

There are many aspects that create a good ‘fit’ between the two practices including, the philosophy of the Partners, how the practices operate, our staff and of course physical location.

The partners at BL Medical, Dr Ghafoor and Dr Raje, would both join the new entity and Dr. Raje and their Practice Manager have worked for Archwood Medical Practice previously.

We don’t anticipate any disadvantages to a potential merger and feel that as patients you will benefit from;

  • Access to a larger team of Clinicians with more flexibility of appointments
  • The potential to develop a wider range of services for you
  • Sharing of expertise in specific areas
  • Ongoing care from Dr Parker, Dr Chanda, Dr Fitton & Dr Begley and our nursing team

We welcome any feedback from our patients regarding this exciting venture.
Both practices are committed to taking your views into account and to take the time to manage the process carefully towards a target launch date of 1st July 2019.

Thank you
Drs Parker, Chanda & the team
